You might have noticed in your crochet kit you’ve purchased from Lousy Llama Creations or in crochet hook supply sets, little plastic pieces. These are stitch markers! Most of them either look like spirals or plastic safety pins but there are a wide variety of styles.

Stitch markers are great for keeping track of stitches so you don’t have to keep track in your head, especially when working in circle or spiral pieces.
To use a stitch marker, when you finish the last stitch in a round, simply insert your stitch marker and continue crocheting as normal! When you get to the stitch marker at the end of the round, remove it, crochet in the stitch, and replace it in the last stitch you made.
