Don’t worry. We won’t be making an magic tricks here but when this skill finally clicks with you, you’re going to feel the magic.
In crochet, magic ring is one way to start a circle. It involves wrapping the yarn around itself and crocheting onto two strands on yarn and then pulling it together to make a circle. I know that probably sounds like gibberish but with a few practices, I have no doubt you’ll be able to do.
If you find that the magic ring doesn’t work for you for certain projects, you want to try a different way, you can find an alternative here.
This is a skill where I recommend the video over the words and pictures but I wanted to provide a way for all learners!
To start a magic ring, place the tail (or dead end or end not connected to your ball of yarn) and wrap the strand around your hand to form an X. Place your hook under one “arm” and on top of the other. Hook that arm underneath the right arm and carefully slide off your hand. Chain 1. Create your stitches onto both strands of the ring (more many stuffed animals, it’s 6 single crochet). Pull the tail until the circle closes.
